Ashford WI was founded in 1984 and has been growing and thriving ever since.
We have a current membership of around 50 including new members and some founder members. We’re all young at heart and new members are very welcome.
Our monthly meetings may include a speaker of an interesting and diverse subject, a demonstration or an activity such as a quiz, not to mention our Christmas and birthday party and celebration at our New Year meeting.
The Christmas Fair has been very successful both as a fundraising and community event and the Stanwell Charter Fair is a new venture.
In recent years our activities have proliferated and we can offer something for everyone.
Using Fordbridge Centre, which increases their footfall and provides links with our local community, we have a Craft Session, Book Club, Coffee Morning and Board Games.
Ashford War Memorial is planted and maintained by a dedicated band of ladies who have been past winners of their class in Spelthorne in Bloom and even been awarded the coveted ‘Best in Show’. So it’s with pride that we always have a group in the Remembrance Day Parade.
Our outings include visits to the theatre, cinema, local museums, picnics in the park and short walks.
We welcome new ideas and enthusiasm. So come along, make new friends and get involved. Visitors are welcome to come to see us in action before deciding if you would like to join.
