Finchley WI was formed by a group of local women at the school gates. Like their children we have grown and now number over 45 members.
We meet on the second Wednesday of the month to laugh, learn, make new friends and contribute to our community. Our meetings are as varied as the interests of our members. We have heard talks by beekeepers, authors, scientists and inspirational women who have fought hard battles. We have learnt how to dance the charleston and how to weave willow. We have wondered over the tales of storytellers and marvelled over the delights of gin. It is all good fun!
In addition to the monthly meeting we have very active smaller groups. Our Craft Group meets monthly to exchange knowledge and develop new skills. The Walking Group explores near and far. Our Book Club offers a relaxed discussion over cake. The Social Group arranges theatre trips, restaurant visits and lots more.
We fund raise for local charities by running our own annual Frost Fair where we sell our crafts, cakes and jam and run a popular tombola. Throughout the year we have a packed programme of activities, there are always projects to plan for and ideas to generate.
We welcome new ideas, new challenges and new members.
