What can I tell you about Halliford WI? Well, as you can see, it was founded in 1922. Wow! that’s nearly 100 years ago, so we must be doing something right!
We are all justifiably proud of our heritage, but we are also keen to welcome new members, just like you!
We meet on a Tuesday evening at 7.30pm – so it’s perfect if you are at work or a Mum. You can even come along to up to 3 meetings free of charge to see if you like us before joining.
With a current membership of 45, we are undeniably one of the more traditional WIs in the Middlesex Federation, but our members are all young at heart – at Halliford 70 is the new 40! What we can offer you is companionship, support and a wealth of experience and knowledge. We have our finger on the local pulse and were networking before we even knew there was a word for it!
Our monthly meetings generally include a talk or a demonstration – these have recently ranged from Burlesque to Handbell Ringing, and Herbs to the Profumo Affair! Sometimes we have a Quiz Night, or a Beetle Drive, and there is always cake! Last Christmas, our talented members put on a concert party with burlesque style dances and a short theatrical sketch. So there’s definitely something for everyone and the opportunity to take part if you wish.
Join one of our Outings in the summer months, such as a boat trip on the Thames, a visit to a stately home, museum or theatre. Come along to our social get-togethers – the Monthly lunch, Pudding club, Coffee mornings, Sunday lunches, or ad hoc cinema trips.
We are always looking for new ideas, so put your enthusiasm to good use. Get involved in the running of the Institute – stand for election to the Committee, where you can help make decisions and shape our future.
In summary, make new friends, learn new skills, visit new places, get involved. Become part of a local, regional and national organisation – inspiring women – join Halliford WI today.
